Best Answer: I have an authentic chloe bag purchased from Bergdorf Goodman in NY in January. Authenticity: There is a SERIAL NUMBER inside on the left side of the bag in light brown leather (My bag is the blue color). I just received a Chloe Paddington in the Dark Brown/chocolate color from Bluefly.com. I read that bluefly is an authorized Chloe reseller- still waiting to get confirmation from Chloe. The bag does not have a serial number.

For a brand that has bags that retail for $1000+ you should expect absolutely perfect stitching. And even after a great deal of use, it shouldn\'t be that messy. In the 4th picture, if you notice the tag on the inside that says Chloe, it looks like a flap, and is only stitched on the top.

All the Chloe bags I\'ve seen have the tag fully stitched in. Does it have a serial number somewhere on the inside? The serial number would appear as such: XX-XX-XX (where the X\'s are numbers). However, even some fakes go so far as to have fake serial numbers. 100% Chinatown sew-the-impostor-tag-on-after-import fake. That\'s some really low-end stitching.

OP, if you are going to get into handbags, I would take a day trip to Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Ave, or Bloomingdales, and look at the purses there to get a feel. There are a lot of guides of popular fakes for each designer, but 90% of the junk I\'ve run into is easy to spot purely on the basis of craftsmanship.
